The renowned multinational conglomerate, Hitachi, traces its origins back to 1910 when it was founded in the Japanese town of Hitachi. This illustrious company was established by the visionary engineer Namikhei Odair, who had the distinction of creating Japan's very first electric motor. In honor of his hometown, Odair chose to name his company "Hitachi," which translates from Japanese to "sunrise."

In its early days, Hitachi primarily focused on the manufacturing of electric motors. However, the company swiftly expanded its product range under Odair's leadership. It wasn't long before Hitachi commenced the production of voltmeters, galvanometers, transformers, and electric fans, marking its foray into diverse technological realms.

As the mid-twentieth century approached, Hitachi took significant steps in its evolution. The company established subsidiaries and ventured into new territories. The year 1952 marked a milestone with the release of Japan's first-ever window air conditioner, setting the stage for Hitachi's entry into the world of climate control. Just nine years later, Hitachi introduced air conditioning units equipped with heat pumps, demonstrating a commitment to innovation and energy efficiency. Six years after that, Hitachi unveiled an air conditioner capable of refreshing indoor air without lowering the temperature.

In the 1970s, Hitachi achieved prominence in the realms of computer systems and microelectronics, solidifying its status as an industry leader. In 1978, the company introduced a groundbreaking computer-controlled air conditioner equipped with micro-sensors for precise temperature control.

Today, Hitachi's manufacturing prowess extends far beyond the borders of Japan. The company operates factories in various international locations, including Malaysia's Hapm factory and Spain's Hape factory. With annual sales nearing the impressive $80 billion mark, Hitachi maintains a steadfast commitment to research and development, investing approximately $5 billion annually in its cutting-edge laboratories and the work of dedicated scientists. These scientific breakthroughs are harnessed to create state-of-the-art air conditioning systems.

Among Hitachi's latest innovations are inverter-type air conditioning systems, as well as split air conditioners and multi-split systems, designed to provide optimum comfort and energy efficiency. Another notable achievement is the SetFree refrigerant variable air conditioning system, which underscores Hitachi's dedication to pioneering climate control technologies that enhance the lives of consumers worldwide.
